Andy Hewitt has over 45 years’ experience in the construction industry. Having worked on many iconic projects worldwide, he has lived and worked in the Middle East for more than 25 years.
Andy has held senior contracts management, commercial management and project management positions. His career has seen him working with contractors, subcontractors and consultants worldwide. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects including super high-rise buildings, large low-rise housing developments, hotels, shopping malls, airports, hospitals, heavy civil engineering, process plants, water treatment plants, water reclamation plants, pipelines, marine works, desalination plants and royal palaces.
Years of first-hand experience within the industry led Andy to specialise in the field of contractual issues, claims and disputes. He firmly believes that if claims and responses are handled correctly, they will not be elevated to disputes. He is justifiably proud of the fact that almost all of the claims that he has managed personally have been settled amicably. Whilst the avoidance of disputes are his priority, if disputes do arise, Andy favours a proactive and structured approach. The goal being to protect the contractual entitlements of our clients.
Andy’s personal background and experience enables him to relate to the needs of clients from both the employer’s and contractor’s perspective and is always able to identify with the individual project personnel and their challenges through his own hands-on experience.
Andy is well known internationally for education and training on claims and contractual matters, which he provides through Claims Class.
